The 9th International Conference on Culture, Languages, and Literature (ICCLL 2023), hosted by Northwestern Polytechnical University and organized by the School of Foreign Languages, took place in the ancient city of Xi'an on July 15-16, 2023. More than 20 renowned experts and over 100 young scholars from both domestic and international institutions attended the conference, exchanging cutting-edge academic perspectives and the latest research achievements in the fields of culture, language, and literature. The event was attended by Chen Jianyou, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Northwestern Polytechnical University; Xiang Dan, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Department; Wang Gaozu, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Foreign Languages; Sean Lancaster, Assistant to the President of Grand Valley State University (USA); Kevin Balchin, Director of the Language Center at Canterbury Christ Church University (UK); Xu Yizhong, Deputy Dean of the School of Foreign Languages at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics; Wen Xiong from Winston-Salem State University (USA); as well as experts and scholars from over 40 prestigious universities, including Portsmouth University (UK), University of Melbourne (Australia), Fontys University of Applied Sciences (Netherlands), National University of Sciences and Technology (Pakistan), Zayed University (UAE), Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Macau University of Science and Technology, Shanghai International Studies University, Minzu University of China, Nankai University, Dalian Maritime University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, Shaanxi Normal University, and many others. The opening ceremony of the conference was hosted by Professor Zhang Yi, Deputy Dean of the School of Foreign Languages.

The "International
Conference on Culture, Languages and Literature" (ICCLL)
is recognized as a Class A high-level international
conference by Northwestern Polytechnical University. More than 20 well-known
experts from home and abroad, and more than 100 young
scholars from some 40 Chinese and foreign universities
attended the event and exchanged cutting-edge academic
views and the latest research results in the fields of
culture, language and literature.
At the opening ceremony, Chen Jianyou, on behalf of the
university, delivered a speech, extending a warm welcome
to the domestic and international guests and scholars
attending the conference, and expressing heartfelt
gratitude to the leaders, experts, and friends from both
home and abroad who have long supported and cared for
the development of the university. He emphasized that as
one of the key universities supported by the Chinese
government, Northwestern Polytechnical University is
committed to cultivating outstanding talents and
advancing scientific research, with the goal of
contributing to social progress and national
development. He highlighted the university's strong
focus on international exchange and cooperation, which
has yielded remarkable results and fostered academic
exchanges and talent development across different
cultural backgrounds. He stated that the conference
would provide a platform for global experts and scholars
to exchange ideas and collaborate, and that the
university would seize this opportunity to strengthen
communication and cooperation with domestic and
international universities and academic institutions,
contributing to the high-quality development of the
university's foreign language and literature disciplines
and the cultivation of outstanding foreign language
talents.

Wang Gaozu delivered a welcome speech, extending his warm greetings and gratitude to the experts and scholars from both China and abroad who attended and participated in the conference. He stated that the purpose of the conference was to establish a platform for exchange and cooperation in the field of foreign language and literature, hoping that the scholars attending would gain new insights, promote deeper collaboration, and inspire innovative ideas, thereby enhancing both teaching and research levels. He emphasized the importance of culture, language, and literature in advancing human civilization and promoting international communication, encouraging the scholars to strengthen cooperation and jointly promote the development of this field.

The keynote speeches of the conference focused on themes such as pedagogy, linguistics, teacher education development, and intercultural communication. Experts in attendance shared their research findings and academic perspectives one by one. The keynote speeches were hosted by Professor Yuan Xiaolu from Xi'an University of Posts and Telecommunications and Professor Zhang Yi from Northwestern Polytechnical University. The invited talks were hosted by Professor Li Qin from Xi'an International Studies University.
